Col. William Douglas was from Northford CT, and was born in 1742. Later in his life he was the Captain of the 6th regiment. Early on in 1776 he was Major in colonel Ward's regiment and on June 20th he was made colonel of the 5th battalion, Wadsworth's brigade. He commanded many regiments during the American Revolution. Unfortunatley, he died from the effects of previous service on May 28,1777
